So, what mark do you need to get to pass the Solicitors Qualifying Examination?
On average, the pass mark for SQE1 has been 56%. Now, remember that SQE1 is split into two sections, Functioning Legal Knowledge 1 and Functioning Legal Knowledge 2. You need to pass both sections to pass SQE1. However, the pass marks have been roughly equal for the two exams.
The maximum pass mark there has been for either part of the SQE1 exam is 57%. That means that if you get over 57% of the questions right in each part of the exam, you are very likely to have passed SQE1.
You will not know the pass mark going into the exam, as is it only determined by a panel of solicitors once the candidates have sat the assessments, and is based on what they consider the competence of a day one solicitor should be.
